Heat Things Up This Summer: Rebecca Taylor at MBFW 2014

The sizzling summer  heat will challenge fashionistas to wear fresh pieces that are comfy yet chic. Back to Basics:

Many of us favor the sundress for summertime day parties and evening gatherings, but why dress to impress members of the uninspired masses? Instead of wearing the ‘little white dress’, stand out with a hint of color and texture.  This collection gets back to basics with the re-imagining of sports chic.

Try an update of the classic summer shift dress (pictured below). Using bluish- gray mesh-like material on the sleeves and front panel, Rebecca Taylor coupled form and function. Exposed zippers along the front panel give this dress a youthful, breezy look when paired with heeled sandals.  A dress like this can replace your little white dress for dates, parties, or the casual summer brunch. Not to mention, for those  of us who can’t achieve the coveted golden tan, a light splash of blue looks great against any complexion.

 

Lighten Up:

A wardrobe with a light color palette is the ultimate indication of fresh style for summer. It’s also the best way to show off  a new tan.  This collection proves that white doesn’t have to be boring. Opt for an embellished white top, and accentuate your legs with a favorite pair of shorts.  Gray shorts with a tasteful exposure of skin through sleek cut-outs just above the hem provide a more formal summer ensemble.  For a more casual look wear jean shorts to balance embellished tops, or wear heels to add a subtle, dressed-up style element.

 

Not Your Mother’s Blazer

An ultra-chic blazer is not a powerful Fall/Winter separate piece. Pale pink colored blazers are flattering office-wear essential items that can also  be an on-the-go staple piece for casual afternoon coffee shop dates. An easy going yet pulled together look, accented by the summertime blazer, can be achieved by wearing  a graphic t-shirt underneath, with boyfriend jeans, and  either flats or pumps.
