Taoray Wang Backstage Interview

Fashion Mingle: One thing I noticed about your collection this season are the colors. We haven’t seen a lot of really deep pastels in a long time. Can you tell me why you decided to go with that color palette and what inspired you?

Taoray Wang: My collection is made-to-order, made-to-measure and I normally only work with grey, black and white. My clients have been asking for baby blue, baby pink, rose pink, so It made me think. The young female leader isn’t afraid to stand out in a crowd. They can be feminine but they can also have a serious life style and serious career. It doesn’t mean they have to wear serious colors all the time. This collection is called Bloom, it’s for a new generation of female leader.

Fashion Mingle:  Do you feel like made-to-order and couture work is having a resurgence of interest?

Taoray Wang: We waste so many clothes, and you can say that the fashion business is not good for the Earth and the environment. So why should we produce so much stock? It might make clothes cheaper but our couture price point is affordable. I don’t want to make more stock than I can sell.  Me or my team will meet people in person. Everyone is unique. They have their own colors and their own fabric preferences. I can get to know my customers better and keep the relationship.

Sleek and sophisticated Taoray Wang started off with black perfectly fitted blazers and dresses all accented with pastel pinks peeking through from underneath or on top to being the eye into the completed look. Pink belts both thin and wide around black lace suits and sheer tops. Making a transition in color the pink slowly took over in full pastel suits and dresses fit perfectly for spring. Moving into darker hues once again came purple blazers and skirts, full color blocked looks were a staple of this collection. There was no escape from detail in Taoray Wang’s spring/summer collection. Whether is was a full lace suit from head to toe or finely cut necklines and fitted pieces. Each outfit clearly echoing the use of luxurious fabrics perfectly crafted for each piece of this very fine and chic collection.

Finishing off with whites and grays with some plaid in between, Taoray Wang made sure to hit every style for a perfect and luxurious ready to wear collection. Classy and sophisticated this spring summer 2019 collection is sure to be high in the list for many looking to make a statement in their day to day endeavors. Taoray Wang continues to grow and remain at the top as a highly anticipated show each season at New York Fashion Week.
