In Fashion Week, Spring & Summer Trends, Trend Reports by Patrick Hovan

As the physical season of fall quickly approaches and the weather begins to grow cooler and the days shorter, New York Fashion Week is heating up with its Spring/Summer 2018 season. Tadashi Shoji is no exception to this as he debuted this season’s collection fit perfectly for such seasons.

With the temperatures cooling and changing in the city, one place in particular was vibrant with the spring/summer warmth. That place was Skylight at Clarkson Square where Tadashi Shoji was gearing up to debut his spring/summer 2018 collection.

In seasons past Tadashi is always a favorite amongst many. His designs are unique and versatile ranging from ready to wear jackets and tops, Bridal gowns, and elegant evening wear. Starting off with a series of short dresses that fit right into the summer beachy vibe tadashi expressed in our interview with him backstage. He stuck true to his vision as the models elegantly flowed down the runway. Flow up and down they did indeed as the short dresses got longer. Each piece was unique in its own while flowing together as a collection. The first half of the collection was very evidently spring with dresses good for hot days in a mixture of pastel color. Transitioning to short and long dresses with pink and white stripes. The collection continued as it took its turn from afternoon at the beach to evening dinner with friends and loved ones or perhaps a summer party.

From beachy dresses came elegant evening wear perfect for hot summer evening, Still sporting pastel colors and now incorporating darker blues and a few greys the designs featured ruffled skirts and sleeves, a few deep necklines, and a few thigh high slits. From colors came patterns and what is spring and summer with out floral! More evening dresses as well as tops featuring bright flowers still holding the prominent color palette of pastel blues mixed with some yellows this time only covered in unique floral patterns. As the show went on the collection almost morphed in front of your eyes. With textures and lace appearing with floral on dresses and shirts it slowly started becoming a beautiful set of gowns perfect for bridal or any special occasion. Many gowns with intricate beading in darker hues of blue and black. Accented with sheer and lace each gown had a life of its own.

Tadashi Shoji is a man who pays close attention to detail and really puts his all into each collection. His passion for his art is breathtakingly strong and contagious. This spring summer season was no exception. With his inspiration of beach vacations and the perfect outfit for such occasions, Tadashi did not disappoint. In the end he delivered yet again another breathtaking collection and in the coming month when everyone is dreaming of summer and sand I am sure one name will come to the minds of many when trying to plan that perfect outfit, that name is Tadashi Shoji.
