Producer Melissa d’Attilio and Designer Naeem Khan Capture the Glamour of Nature at NYFW

In Fashion Week, Spring & Summer Trends, Trend Reports by Julie Stanley

Our team arrived for the Naeem Khan SS18 show first thing along side the producer Melissa d’Attilio of Fly Productions for a special behind the scenes production project. We split up and I made my way through the style teams, observing and capturing their leads demos before all the primping began.

Fashion Mingles Patrick Hovan and Jessica Faith Marshall stuck tight with Melissa and recorded her every move while she made this spectacular show come to life! They “planted trees” behind the runway and tested the mysterious fog element in which the models would emerge from.

As hours of prep time passed I finally made my way to the media pit where I watched the crowd come pouring in including pop icon Paula Abdul, who was a front row guest at the show. The lights when dark, the fog got thick as the models fiercely made their way down the runway presenting a 38 piece collection. This collection paid tribute to the late Anna Pavlova who was a prima ballerina during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. She was the first ballerina to tour around the world.

Black, white, light aqua, yellow, pink and coral hues told a beautiful springtime story while heavy metal facial jewelry took the models to a much edgier place. Lace tulle, suede, beading, fringe and sequins all made an appearance in this collection of dresses, gowns, bustiers, tuxedo pants, jackets and a kimono, while the fabulous heels were created by the one and only Christian Louboutin. I took in every moment of this show while a montage of great music played including the crooning voice of the beloved and late George Michael.

The extremely talented teams that made this show possible were: casting by Cast Inc., production by Fly Productions, hair stylist Odile Gilbert for Tresemme, make up by Erin Parsons for Maybelline New York, nails by Gina Edwards for Kiss and underwear by Commando. This show has certainly left a strong feeling of fierce and powerful femininity in my soul…
