About Me

Years ago, when I began to write for the internet, there were a number of fashion and beauty sites but, as is the case with most fashion magazines, they were aimed at younger women. While that’s still mostly true today, there are now several sites that are geared to ageless women. What distinguishes EverBeautiful.com from the rest is the fact that EB is an online magazine with quality editorial content that includes product reviews, self-help advice and information, book reviews and our very own humor column, courtesy of New York Press Association award winner, Harriet Posnak Lesser. (And yes, she’s my mom.)

I began EverBeautiful.com to celebrate women – women of every age, shape and size. I think it’s fair to say that we live in a youth-obsessed culture. As we age, we tend to become overlooked and many of us start to feel as if we’re invisible. A good friend of mine tells a poignant and not unusual story. My friend, a beautiful woman of about 50, was pumping gas in the pouring rain. A young girl was at the next pump. A middle-aged man drove up to the pumps and, after sizing up the situation, came dashing out of his car, opened his umbrella and raised it over the young girl’s head to protect her from the rain. My girlfriend, who although she would have thanked and rebuffed the stranger’s kindness had he shown it to her, said she felt ugly and completely invisible. It was a revelation to her. She said she still felt as vibrant and attractive as she had at the age of 25. She just didn’t look 25 anymore. Conversations with other friends reveal similar, if not as dramatic, stories.

We’ve all heard of “passing the torch” and I have two smart and amazing daughters to whom I am happy to pass the torch – as soon as I am ready. But I am not ready yet and I don’t know when I will be. I do not want to fade into invisibleness as I get older. I do not want to become a forgotten woman. And I don’t know anyone who does.

EverBeautiful.com is for women everywhere who want to look as vibrant and as beautiful as they feel. It was created to bring you information about people, products, technologies and books that might enrich your lives. You’ll also notice that I have rather strong opinions on certain subjects – and I’m not afraid to share them.

Thank you so much for reading. If you have comments or suggestions, please share them in the comments section of EverBeautiful.com. I look forward to hearing from you. xo, Melody
