Yellow

Mellow with the Yellow

In Fashion Features, Student Mingle, Trend Reports by Kyah Welton

Yellow has been the top trend this past Fashion Week. The bright shade has made a spectacular debut on the runway with many designers such as Marc Jacobs, Rihanna, Ralph Lauren, Oscar de la Renta, and Vaquera. The sunshine color has been posted to the forefront of the fashion industry while becoming a staple for Fall 2020. Not only does the color highlight and bring attention to the best features of the body but it also becomes a staple color. To many, yellow is not the first pick at the store but here are the designers who have incorporated it within their designs, and here are the ways to wear it.

Rihanna-

Singer-songwriter Rihanna created a lingerie line that ranges from many sizes and colors. Rihanna’s mission statement for the new intimates line was to provide inclusivity to plus size women that other brands would lack. Savage x Fenty provides a ton of variety of styles that ranges from every day to extremely sexy. Fall 2019 was the second fashion show for the line and Rihanna did not disappoint! Models ranged from different sizes and the lingerie ranged for different colors! One-color, in particular, was yellow! Bella Hadid was seen wearing a yellow ensemble that highlighted every curve of her body and brings a sense of excitement to her overall look. In contrast to the other colors presented at the show, yellow by far was the most exhilarating.

Namila-

Fashion Designer Namila took an overall different approach when using the vibrant shade. Many pieces were detailed with an Asian flair with a pinch of styling from the early 2000s. The pieces were extremely fresh and gave a new meaning to the color yellow.

Marc Jacobs-

Marc Jacobs has been in the fashion industry for over 15 years but this collection was one for the books. Jacobs for his Fall 2020 was going for a vibrant and energetic look for the new decade. Jacobs coined the actual and true meaning of the collection stating it is a “celebration of life, joy, equality, individuality, optimism, happiness, indulgence, dreams and a future unwritten,” Many pieces of the collection varied from gowns, menswear to even the modern everyday look. One model, in particular, was seen rocking an all yellow pantsuit that heavily exemplifies the meaning of the color yellow.

The use of the exuberant color yellow adds more meaning in happiness and life which is the true theme behind the collection.

Oxford-

Fashion Designer Oxford takes a more casual approach with the color yellow. Dulling down the vibrant shade with a sparkly iridescent suit. The suit can be paired with an everyday look such as going to the office or can be dressed up with heels and become a statement piece for a night on the go.
