TICKET TO THE TENTS: Fall 2015 NYFW Day One Trend Report

PORCELAIN DOLL IN A MAN’S WORLD

The porcelain doll gets a new face at Saunder’s F/W 2015 Presentation. Saunder’s models wore full face makeup to portray pale, alabaster skin reminiscent of a porcelain doll, but the makeup and hair had a twist. The eyebrows were also covered in white makeup, making the models look eyebrow-less and allowing the bold, dark & pouty lips to take center stage.  The models’ hair were frizzed to the point of no return and pulled back into a crown-like bun. Saunder definitely receives an award for having the most unique pairing of style and clothes on Day 1 of NYFW, but the styling almost took away from the clothes. Saunder’s Fall collection was a stark contrast to the doll-like faces. Her collection featured menswear inspired fashions, from utilitarian jackets to the ever popular herringbone print. She also featured graphic prints, studded bomber jackets and boxy silhouettes.

BIRDS OF A FEATHER….

If feathers are just “on-trend” for Spring, Tadashi Shoji, just made them the IT-Factor for Fall.  Presenting a stunning collection as always, Tadashi Shoji showed us his ever-growing design aesthetic with his Fall 2015 collection.  The line, of course, included some of his signature, go-to designs; cape dresses and sheer panel necklines, but the addition of feathers to his collection brought in the wow factor. Resident FashionMingle.net Photographer, Jane Kratochvil, even captured the glitz that was literally in the eyes of the models as they walked the runway with glittery gold eyelids. Jewel-tones were also favored by Tadashi, as he sent a plethora of ethereal, jewel-colored gowns down the runway. The gowns were striking, and their billowy fabrics danced in the wind.

COLORFUL, BOLD PRINTS

Well if there’s anything to say about Desigual, it’s that they are consistent. No matter the season, they’re runway will feature bold, and colorful prints.  Every time I see a Desigual runway, I want to run and go on vacation someplace that will make me feel as happy as I do while watching their clothes and smiling models come down the runway.  Desigual may not be for everyone, but they sure  know how to have a good time!
