Runa Ray's No Sew Face Mask

Fashion Designer, Runa Ray is a Fashion Mingle VIP member who designs with sustainability and eco-consciousness in mind. Using the concept of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Runa created a DIY no sew design for face masks that can be used by families and those who do not have sewing skills.

Research says that 100% cotton t-shirts provide up to 69% protection. You can also wear this over another mask or insert a filter into the opening for extra protection. This no sew face mask also incorporates some of the UN SDG goals into it's design.

You will need scissors, a pencil, a ruler, and an old t-shirt.

Start by measuring out your desired size mask based off the patterns below. Cut it out and fold the length in half.

Measure 4" on either side of the width and mark notches for an even number of tassels. Cut the tassels then turn it inside out. Separate the corner tassels from the rest and tie together adjacent tassels to connect them together.

For the ear straps, you can use the bottom hem, neck hem, sleeve hems, or even the inseam of the shirt. Cut the straps to size to match the mask pattern. Knot together the strap with the corner tassel while keeping the rest of the strap placed between the folds. Push the other end of the strap through to the opposite side corner and knot together. Do the same on the other side and cut any excess off the tassels. Turn it inside out and your mask is complete!
