Alice & Olivia Cooks up Colorful Presentation for the Launch of Their SS18 Collection

In Fashion Week, Trend Reports by Julie Stanley

What a fun and colorful surprise to my eyes as I walked into the Alice & Olivia SS18 Presentation Show on Sept. 12, 2017. The Chelsea Hotel inspired theme was a big hit, as I slowly made my way through a tightly packed crowd to get a good look and shot of all the highly detailed and well executed room sets. New York based fashion designer, Stacey Bendet of Alice & Olivia, worked alongside set designers Lola Schnabel, Lucy Sparrow, Francesca DiMattio, Jemima Kirke, and Angelica Hicks to present the collection to the audience in a unique light.

I started in the Janis Joplin inspired garden full of soft flower-like ladies, then made my way to the turquoise and black checkered lobby where the word FEMINIST covered a white hallway wall behind models wearing loud, edgy florals with a rock-n-roll attitude that carried through all of the models in this show. The mixed prints of a bold, multi colored striped skirt with a soft gentle floral blouse made an unexpected perfect match that only Stacey’s creative mind would see. The pink vintage kitchen with turquoise appliances had models in outfits as brightly colored as the packages of products in the pantry. The lush and stylish living rooms and bedrooms housed a beautiful mix of garments from a 2 piece pastel floral shorts suit to soft gentle dresses and 2 piece gowns for a fancy night out. Large green leaves covered the PJs in the pink striped bathroom with a palm tree on the wall and I ended this one of a kind tour with a tune as I passed by the monochrome pallet of the musical gals and my personal favorite touch… the DJ booth.

It’s very visible in this collection that the Alice & Olivia brand is inspired by Stacey’s love for art, music, culture and vintage fashion. Her mix of bright colors, bold solids and prints and materials makes Alice & Olivia one of the most unique and vibrant brands I saw this fashion week.
