In Style Advice by Melanie Shaw

If you have an interview coming up, make sure you’re prepared with an updated resume and appearance. In this What To Wear presentation, Hillary Kerr explains how to dress for a corporate or creative job interview. From accessories to colors, following these tips will help you dress for success!

  1. Create a classic polished outfit that shows your professionalism and good taste.
  2. Buy a suit that fits the largest part of your body and have the cuffs and hem tailored for a perfect fit.
  3. For corporate jobs stick to navy, burgundy or black suites. If wearing black, add an interesting color shirt to liven it up.
  4. Be conservative with your accessories. Choose close-toed shoes and a structured handbag.
  5. Interviews for a job in the creative field can feature less traditional styles, but stay with a classic silhouette.
  6. Don’t wear anything to a job interview that you would wear to a club. Keep it conservative!
  7. Makeup should be light and nails should be perfectly manicured in a neutral color.
