FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS

Carolina Herrera continues to play on the bell-shape that started to grow in popularity last season on the runways. The over-sized rounded shoulders that fall into a boxy silhouette is a stark contrast to a fitted ensemble that shows off a woman’s usual curves.  It’s definitely a unique shape, that not everyone will be able to pull off, but it can be done! In addition to the bell silhouette, Carolina’s collection featured unique patterns and textures.

REGALITY

The act of being a Queen or King. In Alice + Olivia’s case, Stacey Bendet’s ladies were definitely ruling court. I’m not sure if it was the high-neck lace collars, the elaborate beading on the belts and gowns, or the perfectly slicked back hair finished with striking red flowers, but these ladies would fit in at any royal court.

High-neck collars didn’t stop at the Alice + Olivia presentation. Vivienne Tam seems to have tapped into the regal silhouette as well. More than a few of her models came down the runway in lace or printed high-neck lines. This trend will definitely take the traditional turtleneck to new levels. Vivienne Tam’s collection was mostly dark in color palette minus a few khaki and red ensembles. Her collection, as usual, featured a variety of prints and fabric choices.
