TICKET TO THE TENTS: NYFW Fall 2015 Day 2 Trend Report

In New York Fashion Week, Ticket to the Tents by Shalanda Turner

CONFIDENT WOMAN WANTED

Leather reigned supreme at August Getty’s Fall 2015 Show.  His models wore fierce looks down the runway, which only a confident girl could pull off. There were risqué cut-outs, short shorts and skirts, bondage styles, and full collars in his designs. The majority of the August Getty runway was black, with a sprinkle of greys and other metallic. A lot of the looks were made from leather, but he chose to mix in some other textiles as well. The models wore slicked back hair and to top off the look his models wore gladiator heels and ankle boots.

MIXING PRINTS

Nicole Miller may be giving Anna Sui a run for her money as the queen of mixing fabrics. Some designers just get it and when they do, they get it right. My mind would never work to mix prints the way Nicole Miller does, but she does it so well! Her runway for Fall 2015 featured numerous separates that could easily be swapped around with each other to keep creating fresh and existing looks for Fall.

NEW BRAS

Looks like both Monique Lhuillier and Charlotte Ronson have no problem having their clients show what lays beneath. Both designers sent sheer tops down the runway that revealed lace bras beneath. Get ready ladies! It looks like we’ll be amping up our bra-shopping.

WESTERN MEETS BOHO

One of my favorite runway collections from Day 2, was presented by Rebecca Minkoff. Maybe it’s because I live in Texas,  and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is coming up in March, but this western themed line spoke to me!  I really love how Rebecca took traditional western elements like fringe and suede and paired them with dresses cut in bohemian silhouettes.  The real winners? The fringe boots, printed tights, and cowboy hats!

COLOR

Jewel tones, earth tones and metallics were popular color choices for day 3. Monique Lhuillier did not disappoint with a plethora of dresses and gowns in the featured colors.
