Last season I found myself backstage taking video for an interview with Italian designer Francesca Liberatore. After the interview I made my way to the press pit as she prepared to debut her fall/winter 2016 collection. The collection was very mesmerizing and I quickly became a fan of Francesca. Returning to the city I love for yet another season of New York Fashion Week, on my first day back I found my self backstage ready to photograph and witness the Francesca Liberatore runway for Spring/Summer 2017.
Francesca’s return to New York Fashion Week was extremely exciting and I readied myself in the press pit anticipating what she had to show next! The show, produced once more by the extraordinary Kelly Cutrone, started off just as extravagant as last seasons. Now normally, I have to admit, I am usually more of a fan of fall/winter fashion. But this Francesca Liberatore runway collection shared a healthy mix of both.
What started with solid colored and black dresses, tops, and pants, all ranging from vibrant springy tones to more mellow shades there were very reminiscent of the autumn season transitioned to trendy top coats and overcoats. I loved seeing the mix of what could be styled for both seasons and towards the final moments of the show it returned to beautiful dresses and flowing gowns perfect for the spring/summer seasons. The show ended and as the final walk commenced and Francesca came out to show her thanks with a bow and wave to the audience. It is definitely safe to say that Francesca does not disappoint and I will continue to follow her and her work and I absolutely look forward to photographing her collections in the future.
Photographing Francesca Liberatore’s spring/summer 2017 collection on my first day back at fashion week definitely contributed to making it a hard day to beat! I was also honored to meet Kelly Osbourne who was there as a special guest as well as co-producing Francesca’s show alongside Kelly Cutrone. Needless to say, New York Fashion Week S/S 2017 started off with a bang!
