A Day in the Life of a New York Fashion Week 2016 Show Attendee

Venues

My second day excitement continued as my NYFW experience continued. For today, I’m attending a new location at the Skylight Clarkson Square. As I walked up to the venue, the aura was nothing but peace!!! I loved it; everyone was so helpful, from the hottest to the security.

At the door, they already had a great system in place, they separated those who had tickets and those who did not have tickets at the door. To make things better, they separated us by those who had seats and those who with standing only tickets. Eventually everyone who had standing only tickets was awarded with a seat.

The best part of the whole experience was the immaculate, spacious bathroom and air conditioning!!! Seems common to you, but not all venues have their air conditioning consistently set at the right temperature. Overall, I highly recommend you attend any event held at the Skylight Clarkson Square.

After my first great experience, I headed to Studio 450 for second show. I was a little sketched out when I entered the lobby. Shortly after walking inside, I’m blown away!!!! The venue was extremely spacious, donned with crystal chandeliers, shiny floors and white chairs everywhere. Great venue with an even greater view overlooking the bright lights of New York City.

KARIGAM

There is not one thing bad to say about the KARIGAM Spring/Summer 2016 show. In fact, I’d have to say that this is the best offsite shows I’ve been to in all my 33 years of living. As soon as I walked into the show, hostesses were at guests’ service and at every seat to help you arrive at your final destination; I appreciated that.

Although the models looked amazing, I did notice that yet again there were no male models. I’ve heard they are now trying to separate the two and give men their own NYFW, but that’s another story.

KARIGAM used a lot of basic colors in a very exotic way, while showcasing plenty of navy blue, white, pink and black. Her collection was very chic and sexy, featuring open back shirts and jackets, most of which were expertly infused with zippers placed in the middle for most of them, which I found very interesting.

This designer nailed the trending futuristic mixed with urban wear ensemble. From the color concepts to the music concepts, her show deserves an A+. I expect to hear and see more great things from KARIGAM for years to come.

LATINISTA Fashion Week

You could not find a Spring/Summer 2016 show with more excitement! More than 200 people were in attendance and the feeling was electric!!! This show was featured two separate collections: the ‘BATISTA collection’ by Milagros Batista and the ‘CZAR collection’ by Cesar Galindo.

The ‘ Batista collection’ boasted simplicity with a pop of flare, salmon and creamy tans, grey with flowering of oranges, and dark reds. This Spring/Summer 2016 collection is perfect for the everyday woman who loves simplicity with a hint of sophistication. Overall, her collection proved to be worthy of NYFW runways.

The main show which was the ‘CZAR collection’ treated us with a Spring/Summer 2016 collection that was comprised of solid colored, contemporary dresses with soft separate components. A variety of edgy statement pieces in a rich palette of lemon lime, fuchsia, slate, cloud grays, purple and color blocked with pop orange, indigo and TECHNO floral prints complemented the garments.

This show reflected the person Cesar Galindo is: fun, vibrant and of course fashionable. Galindo’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection will undoubtedly leave his customers pleased!
